Based in Barnsley, a short drive from your boiler

Heating engineers based in Barnsley, working across the town and the villages around it. When your boiler stops in the middle of a cold week, you want an engineer who's close by, and we are.

Most of the work we do here is boiler installation, servicing and repair. If you need a boiler installation in Barnsley because your old boiler is on its last legs, we'll look at your home, talk you through the options and fit the new boiler - see our boiler installation page. If it's still working, an annual boiler service keeps it safe and catches small faults early. And when it breaks down, our boiler repair engineers find the fault and tell you plainly whether it's worth fixing.

What a Barnsley customer said

Lukas and Lisa needed a new boiler during last winter's cold weather. This is what they wrote in their Google review:

"It’s my first time going with Oneheat Limited and I am very impressed by the knowledge and swiftness from Ricky and team. They responded very quickly, were friendly, explained in detail what works needed to be done and in no time fixed in a brand new boiler. I would easily recommend them to anyone in the Barnsley area and no doubt use their services again. Thank you Ricky and team we really appreciated your help in these cold times! - Lukas & Lisa"

That's how we aim to work on every Barnsley job: get there quickly, explain what needs doing and why, then get your heating and hot water back on.

Changing a boiler in a Barnsley terrace or semi

Barnsley has a lot of stone and brick terraces, especially in Central Barnsley and Kendray, alongside post-war semis and newer estates. Each brings its own questions when you change a boiler.

In older terraces the boiler often sits in the kitchen or a back bedroom, and the flue has to go out through a thick wall or onto a narrow back yard. We check where the flue can safely go before we quote, so there are no surprises on fitting day.

Many older homes still have a hot water cylinder and a tank in the loft. Swapping to a combi frees up a cupboard and loft space, but it isn't right for every house. With more than one bathroom, or low water pressure, a system boiler with a cylinder can be the better choice. We'll tell you which suits your home and why.

When your boiler starts playing up

Boiler breakdowns usually come down to age, missed servicing or the cold. These are some of the common ones:

  • Frozen condensate pipe. If the plastic pipe running outside freezes in a cold snap, a condensing boiler locks out. Pouring warm, not boiling, water over the pipe often clears it. If it keeps happening, the pipe can be rerouted or lagged.

  • Sludge in the system. Older systems build up sludge, which leaves radiators cold at the bottom and strains the pump. A system clean and a magnetic filter usually sort it.

  • A failing diverter valve. On a combi, heating but no hot water (or the other way round) often points to the diverter valve.

  • Pressure that keeps dropping. If you keep topping up the pressure, there's usually a small leak somewhere that needs finding.

A yearly service catches many of these early. If your boiler has already stopped, book a boiler repair and we'll find the fault and explain what it will take to fix.
